The thought
After the loss of two loved ones, I found myself in a situation you might recognise: you're standing in a house of someone who has died and see clothes, curtains, tablecloths or bedding that have been part of a story. Those items have been used and are full of memories.
I loved the clothes! But I also knew right away, I'm never going to wear this. Still, I didn't want to throw it away.... But where do I keep it? In my own wardrobe? In a cardboard box in the attic? So just storing it for storage's sake?
I decided to do something different with it and turned a T-shirt into my first Butterfly book.
The T-shirt transformed like a butterfly.
My grief had taken a different form: the T-shirt was no longer wearable, but my Butterfly book helped me to be able to literally carry the warm memories now. I could do something concrete with it. Put it away or just occasionally put it more in plain sight.
I wish this feeling of comfort and tenderness to everyone.
